“The Huddersfield Singers would appear to be the local choir for people who are ambitious to explore all sorts of repertoire…”

William Marshall, The Huddersfield Daily Examiner, June 2015

Introduction

The Huddersfield Singers is a chamber choir of 30–40 members which was formed in 1875 as the Huddersfield Glee & Madrigal Society. The choir performs a wide variety of sacred and secular music from all periods of musical history, ranging from the mediæval to the present day.

New musical staff

The choir is absolutely delighted to welcome Daniel Gordon as its new conductor from the 2017–18 season onwards. Daniel is a very highly regarded local musician who has served for many years as the Huddersfield Choral Society’s accompanist. Recently he has been promoted within that organisation to become Accompanist and Assistant Chorusmaster, and we are thrilled that he has agreed to work with us too.

We are also delighted that our recently-appointed President, Susan M. Wilkinson, has agreed to assist Daniel as necessary in rehearsing the choir. Susan is also a well known and greatly respected music practitioner in the area, not least for her work with the Huddersfield Choral Society Youth Choirs over their first three decades. She also conducts Gledholt Male Voice Choir.
