IntroductionThe Huddersfield Singers is a chamber choir of around 30 members which was formed in 1875 as the Huddersfield Glee & Madrigal Society. The choir performs a wide variety of sacred and secular music from all periods of musical history, ranging from the mediæval to the present day.Peruse our Web site for full details about the choir and its concerts, and please support us in our various activities! Further details are available concerning the choir, its repertoire and how to join, and there are many other pages of information, such as a transcript of a radio interview given by our conductor, Philip Honnor, which itself provides a good description of the ethos of the choir. The choir is always keen to welcome new members of all voice parts. Weekly rehearsals take place on Monday evenings between 7.30pm and 9.30pm at the Huddersfield Methodist Mission, 15 Lord Street, Huddersfield (see a map), and choir members also enjoy a flourishing social programme throughout the year. So, if you have a musical ear, click on the cartoon to the right to visit our recruitment page for more information about joining! Please note that this choir is not the Huddersfield Choral Society! |
